You Can’t Force a Spiritual Awakening

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that people believe they can spiritually awaken themselves.

In my experience, many people who awaken don't even realize they're on a spiritual journey until it has already begun. Awakening isn't something they planned for or pursued as a goal. It unfolded naturally as a result of the deep inner work they had already done.

People often ask, "How can I prepare for a spiritual awakening?" I don't believe awakening is something you can prepare for in the traditional sense. You can't schedule it, force it, or earn it by checking off a list of spiritual practices.

Yoga, meditation, chanting, spending time in nature, or striving to be a good person are all beautiful practices. They can quiet the mind, expand awareness, and support your growth. But by themselves, they don't create awakening.

The real work happens within.

Awakening comes from having the courage to see yourself honestly, question what you've believed, heal what needs healing, and release the layers of conditioning that have kept you disconnected from your true nature. It's an inside-out process.

In many ways, the body and soul know before the mind does. There is often a deep inner knowing or shift taking place long before we can explain it with words.

People frequently ask which method, teacher, or guru will awaken them. I don't believe anyone can awaken another person. A teacher may point toward truth, offer guidance, or help remove obstacles, but the awakening itself is deeply personal.

No two people have lived the same life, experienced the same lessons, or come here with the same purpose. It makes sense, then, that no two awakenings would look alike.

This is one reason I encourage people to be cautious about comparing their journey to someone else's or believing there is a single roadmap that everyone must follow.

In my opinion, many spiritual teachings focus heavily on practices, techniques, and concepts but overlook a crucial piece: embodiment. It isn't enough to understand spiritual ideas intellectually. They must become a lived experience. Truth has to move beyond the mind and become something you know because you've experienced it.

Awakening isn't about becoming more spiritual than someone else. It isn't a reward for doing enough meditation or finding the right teacher.

It's what naturally unfolds when enough truth has been seen, enough illusion has fallen away, and the soul is finally free to express what has always been there.

Awakening is often something people recognize after it has happened. While they're living through it, they usually think they're simply facing difficult life circumstances, healing old wounds, or questioning everything they once believed. Only in hindsight do they realize they were awakening all along.
