I’ve Been Awakening All of My Life
Never in a million years did I imagine life becoming what I now understand it to be.
For most of my life, I lived with certain beliefs, convinced I had the answers and that others simply didn't understand the truth. Looking back now, I can see that I, too, was part of the illusion we call life.
The best way I can describe it is that I was walking through life with one eye covered. I say one eye because I have always been curious. Whenever someone told me something was true—or impossible—I wanted to discover it for myself. I've always been open-minded, and I never let anyone else decide what I should think. I wasn't a rule follower unless the rule made sense to me. I respected authority only when I felt that respect was mutual.
Even as a young child, I could sense when someone wasn't being authentic. People who seemed to be playing a role instead of simply being themselves always made me uncomfortable. I couldn't explain it then. Now I understand that I was sensing energy. Their energy and mine simply didn't resonate.
Something I've found fascinating throughout my life is watching certain families over generations. Even as a child, I felt a disconnect with the behaviors I witnessed, especially in adults. That feeling never left me. Today, I often notice similar patterns expressed in their children and grandchildren.
As I see it now, these patterns are examples of conditioning. Beliefs, fears, behaviors, and ways of seeing the world are often passed from one generation to the next, sometimes without anyone ever stopping to ask why. Looking back, it's almost as though we were living in different realities. We shared friendships, holidays, conversations, and experiences, yet we weren't experiencing life through the same lens.
The adults from those years have long since passed, but many of the patterns remain. The people have changed, yet the conditioning continues.
That realization led me to something unexpected.
My awakening didn't suddenly begin one day. I can now see that I have been awakening my entire life. Every question I asked, every feeling that something didn't quite fit, every moment I trusted what I sensed over what I was told—those were all part of the journey.
It fascinates me how some people naturally continue to question, grow, and evolve, while others find comfort in the beliefs they've always known. Neither path is right or wrong. Each soul has its own timing, and each person's journey unfolds exactly as it needs to.
As my understanding has deepened, I experience life very differently. I trust my intuition in ways I never imagined possible. I notice the energy within people and situations before words are ever spoken. The truth often reveals itself quietly, and my intuition has become the light that guides me. For that, I feel deeply grateful.
There is, however, another side to this journey.
It can be lonely.
Not because I am alone, but because experiences like these are difficult to explain to someone who hasn't lived them. I can't casually begin talking about spiritual awakening and expect another person to understand. Over time, I've learned that not everyone is meant to hear what I have come to know.
So I've learned the beauty of boundaries.
I rarely share what I see or understand, even with those closest to me. Occasionally, I may leave a breadcrumb, but I let it rest there. If someone is meant to find it, they will.
Every now and then, though, life brings someone across my path who simply understands. There is no need to explain. No need to convince. We recognize one another almost instantly. Without saying much at all, we understand each other's perspective, each other's boundaries, and the quiet journey that brought us there.
Those connections are rare.
When I'm blessed enough to experience one, I don't take it for granted. I meet it with gratitude, respect, and unconditional love.
